Disclaimer - Before doing something like this, confirm you have adequate backups and understood that this is in all probability not supported by Microsoft or VMware - I take no responsibility for any Currupt to your systems If you'd suppost grow a virtual disk the “safe” method (read: much, a lot of slower), you can use VMware’s converter tool, which can grow the amount for you on conversion, the downside is that it'll required the VM to be turnoff during the conversion. The steps below can significantly speed up the method, especially if you have got a very large VMDK that needs to be extended.
To grow a system volume, you are going to need a second virtual machine that will act as the helper VM to mount the virtual disk you'd like to extend. i'll be using two virtual machines, both are Windows 2003 standard.
required Software before you start extending partion:
Acronis Disk Director Server
link here >> Download
Step 1:
The disk on the VM that i want to extend is currently 20GB, i might like to make this 80GB. I have already made sure that I have enough space on my VMFS formatted storage partition to support this larger VMDK.
See Total Space 20GB.
Step 2:
Increase in size in Virtual Machine Properties in Hard Disk Menu.
Step 3 :
Start Virtual Machine and go to Disk Management Menu . Right Click on my computer > Manage > Disk Management. You can see space available on another Partition.
Then You can use Acronis Disk Director Server

Step 4:
Thank you ..
